Behind every entrepreneur is a success story. Just because they are successful now doesn’t mean they didn’t face momentous hardships in their journey. They did. Everybody does. However, there are some traits that most successful entrepreneurs possess and there are also some things that they do every single day. Habits formed by mindset, goal setting, and good old self-discipline. What are they? Well, here you go.

1. Love what you do.

When you love what you’re doing, it’s much easier to weather difficulties. Everything that you’re working on is enjoyable because you couldn’t imagine NOT doing it. No one has to force you or pressure you to get to work. Every day you wake up without having to worry that you have to work, you get to work. When you enjoy providing value for others, your customers will pick up on that as well.

2. Maintain a positive attitude.

Negativity should have no space in your life if you want to be successful. Choosing to see the positive in every situation will give you a lighter feel about your calling, and this attitude will transfer to your team. Positivity brings hope and that will carry you forward.  When your customers see that you are always positive, it brings credibility to your product and/or services.  Credibility builds trust, and trust builds solid relationships and loyal customers.

3.  Believe.

Believe that anything is possible and that what you focus on can be achieved. With the proper attitude, a goal, a plan, and hard work, you really can achieve what you believe. Find others who believe in you too and surround yourself with them.  Don’t spend time on haters and people who may be threatened by your success.  Keep on believing and living the dream.

4. Never give up.

No one has achieved greatness by quitting. Always pursue what you believe in. When you give up, you’re not only stopping yourself from being the best that you can be, but you are also closing your doors to other possibilities that may come about if you had just kept going. Sometimes success is one day away.

5. Persevere.

As Steve Jobs said, the thing that separates successful entrepreneurs from non-successful entrepreneurs is perseverance. Perseverance is not easy. Difficulties and trials will always come your way but if you persevere, you can achieve success. Set aside a morning routine to make this automatic.  Take care of your body, mind, and spirit, and carve out the first 90 minutes of your workday on “eating that frog”.  Little by little, you’ll be able to accomplish big things.  Never let your perseverance lose its grip!

6. Be one with your customers.

For you to be one with your customers, you have to know them. Customers are the main reason for your existence. If you take care of your customers, they will also take care of you. Having a bad reputation with one customer will be passed on to another and another. Your main focus should be on your customers. Make sure that you are approachable and that you are building rapport with your customers as well.  Help them solve their problems, and they will help you grow your business.

7. Give back.

Yes, the golden rule applies to successful entrepreneurs. Giving back doesn’t only apply to monetary donations. Giving back is also appreciating and saying thank you to your customers.  It’s mentoring someone who is a few steps behind you.  It’s showing your team appreciation. In one way or another, you should give back to your customers as well –  even with simple things. Giving back certainly means that you know where you came from and don’t take for granted the people who helped you achieve what you have.

8. Use money wisely.

If you are already successful, that doesn’t mean you should spend on whatever you want. Remember that your money is hard-earned and that it didn’t multiply overnight. Save and spend on what you need, give back, re-invest in your business, and THEN spend on what you want.

9. Plan.

Planning is crucial to every aspect of running a business. It never ends. If you form a plan, you can track your short-term and long-term goals. Planning is a vital key to your success. Planning is sort of like a foundation of your business. Create a business that runs with or without you. Always look at the bigger picture, set your goals, then reverse engineer your plan to where you’re starting from.

10. Take time off.

For you to fully function well, you have to take some time off from work. You need to rest and have fun. Do the things that you want to do. Always make sure that your business will run even without your presence. Get your team in place to take over what you’d normally do, and make sure that you delegate the work ahead of time. Then enjoy the fruits of your labor.
